Request test stamps before production. For hot stamping, screen printing, or any custom printing, a test stamp is the only way to verify that the print quality meets your standard. If the supplier won't do a test stamp, find one who will.

Check compliance documentation. If your ribbon will be used on a food product, make sure the supplier can provide the necessary compliance documentation before you place the order — not after. If they can't provide it, walk away.

Start with a trial order. Don't commit to a large order on the first try. Start with a small trial order — 2,000 to 5,000 meters — and verify the quality before scaling up. The cost per meter is higher on a small order, but the risk is lower.
